Current Major Project: The Ellis Island Chronicles Project

Barry seeks to recruit families that have either researched their families’ Ellis Island stories or are interested in having their connection researched (possibly for a fee). He is particularly interested in involving Genealogy Society members across the United States who have done research in this area and know a bit of their family’s story – but have never before put them into story form.

Barry seeks to turn the research, photos, and documents into chapters of a sequel he is in the process of writing. “I want to involve others in the project, include their stories to create an “every man” feel, which should lend itself to become a wonderful resource to educate and connect teens, college students, and those looking for the tools to research and understand the life and historical backdrop of their ancestors who came to America through Ellis Island.

Examples of the stories Barry creates cane be found in his book, The Ellis Island Experience.

His story, A Rose for America, featured in The Anthology,

His story, Isaac in a Bind, Again, featured in the anthology – Winter Harvest: Jewish Writers of St. Louis (April 2011), available on

both stories also appear in The Ellis Island Experience: A Sampling of Stories and How You Can Research Your Own
